"What is that?"

"What is what, Aelita?"

"That." The pink haired girl pointed to one of the pink spots on Jeremy's cheeks. "What are those?"

"Oh." Jeremy continued typing, very aware of Aelita brushing against his shoulder. The close contact brought another rush of heat to his face.

"That!" the girl exclaimed as Jeremy became redder. "Why are you doing that? What is it?"

Still Jeremy continued to type, careful to keep his eyes on the screen. "It's called a blush, Aelita."

The girl tilted her head curiously. Now her cheek was pressed against Jeremy's. "I've seen you do that before. Sometimes when I was in Lyoko, you started acting funny and your face changed color. Also, it feels warm now."

Jeremy didn't answer.

"Why did you do it?" Aelita prodded, one arm now slung over Jeremy's shoulder. He tried not to squirm.

"Well," Jeremy began carefully, aware he was in dangerous territory, "people usually blush when they're embarrassed, but someone could also blush if they're near someone they like." He waited for her response, desperately hoping Aelita wouldn't connect the dots.

"Someone they like… You mean, like Yumi and Ulrich?"

Relieved, Jeremy smiled and nodded. "Yes."

"But why haven't I blushed?"

Jeremy stiffened. He was back into dangerous territory. "What do you mean, Aelita?"

"Well, I like you—"

Jeremy was very aware of his blush.

"—Yumi, Odd, and Ulrich too. You guys are all my friends," she added, noticing Jeremy's confused look. "And I like you all."

Jeremy saved his work, turning around as Aelita's arm disappeared form his shoulder. He tried to avoid eye contact, only to find his eyes drawn to the beaming pinkette.

"That's not the kind of like I'm talking about…" Jeremy coughed, wondering if his blush would be there permanently.

"What kind of like is it, then?"

"Um…" Anything more refused to come out. "Uh, It's… Wow, look at the time," Jeremy said suddenly, not even glancing at his watch. "I totally forgot; I promised to, um, there's this really important thing I have to…" Jeremy was out the door before he finished his sentence.

Aelita stared at the open doorway in confusion, questions still running through her mind. He was blushing? What exactly did that mean? What kind of like did he mean? But more than ever, she wondered why he only "blushed" around her.

Aelita sighed as she left the room, closing the door behind her. Humans were so confusing.
....Yep.
